In December of 2000, days before the busy Christmas season, a server failure hosting critical flight dispatching applications for Mesaba Airlines (dba Northwest Airlink) failed, resulting in the cancellation of over 350 flights. In May of 2001, Mesaba Airlines once again met with XIOtech, this time in search of a disaster recovery solution. The goal was to mirror all critical data to a location 10 miles away. Using Netware 6, Nishan and XIOtechÆs REDI SAN Links/REDI Copy, the final result was a design that was simple and reliable and has been expanded to many non-disaster recovery related practices, increasing overall productivity for the organization.

NetWare Nakoma will ship with the Apache 2.0 Web Server rather than the Enterprise Web Server which shipped with previous versions of NetWare. This means that you may want to consider migrating to Apache 2.0 when your server is upgraded to Nakoma. To make this migration as seamlessly as possible, the Nakoma installation program will run a perl script to automatically configure Apache 2.0 to match your existing Enterprise settings as closely as possible. This session will take a close look at what the migration perl script does, and offers solutions for how to make the transition from Enterprise to Apache as smooth as possible. A review of how the Enterprise directives (found in MAGNUS.CONF and OBJ.CONF) map to Apache directives (found in HTTPD.CONF) will be presented. There's a number of different technologies in the Novell exteNd suite: integration, interaction, and development. This session is designed to give you an overview of some of these tools, and then how to build and expose Web Services. You will see demonstrations of Novell exteNd Composer as an environment for building Web Services, consuming a SecretStore Web Service, and then using Novell exteNd Director to provide the interaction. You'll also see how to build components for Director so that you can expose other Web Services, or any other data source.
